Direct Support Professional/Aide


Summary: Provide support, education, and supervision of the persons' with disabilities in the Day Habilitation program by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provide support to persons' with disabilities served by implementing Individualized Support Plans to assist persons' with disabilities in achieving their personal goals and to meet their needs and desires.

2. Maintain support of the persons' with disabilities served by providing choices for activities, and work.

3. Assist persons' with disabilities served in completion of activities of daily living, including job skills, toileting, grooming, dressing, eating, medication administration, bathing and transportation as needed.

4. Complete required documentation and assist with information gathering for Person Centered Goals and assessments.

5. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for persons' with disabilities served by following safety and infection control procedures.

6. Attend scheduled staff meetings and required training sessions.

7. Integrate persons' with disabilities in community job site, with other employees of that work site.


Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent. One year's experience with person's with disabilities or as required by regulation. Must be 18 year's of age or older.


Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:


Must possess a valid CPR certificate. TME Certification desired. Valid Driver's License and good driving record is required.


Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior):


Good verbal and written skills; ability and willingness to successfully complete the in-service training courses. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others; displays cooperative attitude toward other disciplines; interest in the persons supported welfare, including training and interest in the field of developmental disabilities.


Physical Demands:

Ability to complete two-person lifts and transfers of people servedover 100 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods and tolerate repetitive bending and twisting.

The work environment is an indoor/ outdoor setting with a noise level in the usually moderate to high range.
