Job description

Journeyman Electrician

Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Foreman / Project Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Professional Electrical, LLC is seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who can work independently or as part of a team while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and specifications.
  • Install conduit (EMT, PVC, Rigid, Flexible, MC Cable, etc.).
  • Pull, terminate, and test electrical wiring and feeders.
  • Install electrical panels, transformers, switchgear, lighting, controls, and devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Perform service calls and diagnose electrical problems efficiently.
  • Operate power tools, testing equipment, lifts, ladders, and construction equipment safely.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentice electricians as assigned.
  • Coordinate daily work with foremen, project managers, general contractors, and customers.
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites.
  • Complete daily reports, timecards, and required project documentation accurately.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Attend safety meetings and training as required.
  • Represent Professional Electrical in a professional manner with customers and coworkers.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of commercial, industrial, or residential electrical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass random drug screening if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician card
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts and forklifts.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience with fire alarm, controls, generators, or low-voltage systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.
  • Work overhead for extended periods.
  • Work in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Distinguish colors for electrical wiring identification.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely.

Work Environment

This position regularly works on construction sites and occupied facilities where exposure to noise, dust, heights, heat, cold, and energized electrical equipment may occur. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
