Location: Statewide — Utah & Arizona (travel required)

Employment Type: Part-Time & Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Erosion Control & Revegetation Laborer to join our field crew. This position works on active construction sites, restoration projects, reclamation sites, and land development projects across Utah and Arizona. Work includes installing and maintaining erosion and sediment control BMPs, as well as performing seeding and revegetation operations to restore disturbed ground in compliance with project SWPPP requirements, reclamation permits, and state regulations.

Expect frequent travel!

Key Responsibilities

Erosion & Sediment Control

  • Install, maintain, and remove erosion control BMPs including silt fence, straw wattles, rock check dams, inlet protection, erosion control blankets (ECBs), and fiber rolls
  • Perform trenching and staking for BMP installation
  • Follow all SWPPP requirements

Hydroseeding

  • Operate and assist with hydroseeding equipment (hydraulic mulch machines / hydroseeders)
  • Mix and apply slurry blends of seed, fertilizer, tackifier, and mulch per project specifications
  • Calibrate equipment and adjust application rates based on slope, soil type, and project requirements
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot hydroseeding equipment in the field

Drill Seeding

  • Set up and operate drill seeding equipment on reclamation and restoration sites
  • Adjust seed depth, spacing, and seeding rates to match soil conditions and seed mix specifications
  • Work in coordination with equipment operators on steep, rocky, or remote terrain
  • Maintain drill equipment and perform basic field repairs

Broadcast Seeding

  • Apply seed by hand-crank spreader, ATV-mounted spreader, or aerial-assist methods across large or inaccessible areas
  • Apply straw, wood fiber, or hydraulic mulch over broadcast-seeded areas to promote germination
  • Follow project seed mix specifications and track material usage

General Site Duties

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment (Motorized post pounder, hand trencher)
  • Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment between job sites
  • Maintain clean, organized equipment and work areas
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety plans
  • Complete daily work logs and communicate site conditions to supervisors

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Utah and Arizona — projects may require overnight or multi-week stays in remote areas
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, stand/walk/kneel for extended periods, and work in desert heat, high elevation, wind, and rugged terrain
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (May be asked to get DOT medical card if not already obtained, having a CDL is a plus)
  • Ability to work early morning starts and extended hours when project schedules demand
  • Comfortable working independently in remote field conditions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors

Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • 1+ year of experience in erosion control, reclamation, revegetation, range management, landscaping, or site construction
  • Hands-on experience with hydroseeding, drill seeding, or broadcast seeding equipment
  • Familiarity with SWPPP/BMP requirements and reclamation permit compliance in UT or AZ
  • Experience operating skid steers, ATVs, mini excavators, or other light equipment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $18–$26/hr depending on experience
  • Paid lodging on projects
  • On-site training
  • Opportunities for advancement to crew lead, equipment operator, and foreman roles
