  • Description

    Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. was established in 1965 with a mission to combat poverty and improve the quality of life for low-income individuals and families in Steuben and Yates counties. Over the years, the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. The agency's philosophy in addressing poverty has also evolved, incorporating evidence-based practices and holistic approaches to better serve the community.

    RCF Home Visitor Penn Yan and Hornell, NY. The Home Visitor partners with families to provide high-quality in-home education, child development support, and family services that promote healthy growth and school readiness. Through regular home visits, this position coaches parents as their child's first teacher, supports developmental learning activities, conducts screenings and assessments, and connects families with community resources. The Home Visitor builds trusting relationships with families, advocates for their strengths and goals, and collaborates with program staff to ensure comprehensive services that support both child and family success.

    Ideal skills
    • The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building, active listening and observational skills to foster family strengths, empower parents and promote child focused interactions.
    • Knowledge of child development, time management, and effective communication both verbally and in writing when documenting information.
 
  • Requirements

    An associate's degree in human services or related field, or a combination of education and experience may be considered.

    The ideal candidate must have a valid driver’s license, meeting agency standards per position and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area.
