Clinical Counsellor - Native Healing Centre

Term Position July 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027

35 hrs. a week / $38hr. - $40hr.

Reporting to the Native Healing Centre Coordinator, the Clinical Counsellor will provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, and inclusive support to individuals experiencing or impacted by trauma. This position will offer individual and group counselling, crisis response, and emotional support to individuals while also supporting prevention initiatives and community healing. You will provide counselling using approaches grounded in trauma informed, strength based, and culturally relevant therapies, supporting individuals experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, and system barriers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Social Worker, Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, or Certified Counsellor, or combined experience with a Social Work degree.
  • Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, crisis, or violence.
  • Understanding of the impacts of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and systemic barriers affecting Indigenous communities.
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals.
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open-minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both participants and fellow employees.
