Position Summary
The Lead Behavior Health Specialist will assist classroom teams in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective behavioral health programs for students and will participate in the same professional development activities as Behavior Health Specialists. The Lead Behavior Health Specialist is responsible for organizing and implementing psychoeducational curriculum and behavioral programming for the assessment room, classroom teams, and students. The Lead Behavior Health Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the development of Positive Behavior Support Plans, assessment opportunities, research-based instructional methods, aligning of materials and resources to curriculum outcomes, diagnostic testing, and other leadership responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities
To assure effective behavior health programming for students, and provide instruction to increase each student's adaptive social skills and appropriate school decorum, the Lead Behavior Health Specialist will:
  • Assist teams in designing and implementing classroom management systems and policies.
  • Assist teams in implementing components of group process procedures in the classroom including, but not limited to development of a group theme, implementation of planning, evaluation, and problem-solving meetings, and group activities - - social and academic;
  • Administer assessments and complete necessary documentation related to the assessments;
  • Provide behavioral data to BHS and/or TDHH for the PBSP for new students;
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual and group interventions in accordance with Re-evaluations.
  • Integrates experiential education activities into daily programming;
  • Maintain frequent informal communication with classroom teams regarding student programming and progress.
  • Maintain comprehensive supervision records of Behavior Health Specialists and assigned Special Education Aides
  • Conduct formal verbal and written evaluations of designated staff member at 6 months of service, 12 months and annually thereafter (written evaluation reports will be reviewed and signed by the Program Director);
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of cultural sensitivity;
  • Actively implement components of all Re-ED values in the school, home, and community settings

Essential Qualifications
  • Education/Credentials/Licensure.

  1. Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work or other humans services field
  2. Experience in behavior management
  3. Fluency in ASL

  • Experience.

  1. Minimum two years' experience working with students who have emotional/behavioral needs, in a school setting, developing behavioral support plans and interventions
  2. Familiarity with multiple types of data collection instruments.
