The Medical Receptionist (Check Out Desk) plays a vital role in supporting the financial and administrative functions of a small healthcare team. This position involves direct patient interaction, managing patient accounts with a focus on insurance verification, payment processing, and clear communication of billing information. The receptionist also assists with contact lens sales, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth check-out procedures using practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including vision insurance
• Post payments accurately using practice management software
• Communicate billing information, payment policies, and explain insurance benefits to patients
• Collect payments and manage outstanding balances efficiently
• Assist with contact lens sales and related patient transactions
• Schedule follow-up appointments and manage patient scheduling
• Perform check-out procedures after eye exams

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in patient accounts or medical billing
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with patient scheduling and insurance verification
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
