Position Summary:
The Accounting Coordinator supports the day-to-day accounting functions of the manufacturing operation by processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end close activities, and helping ensure timely and accurate plant financial reporting. This role works closely with plant leadership, purchasing, payroll, vendors, customers, and the Finance Manager to maintain strong financial controls and accurate cost tracking.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plant Accounting and Transaction Processing
  2. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including vendor invoices, cash receipts, AP payments, and customer credit setup.
  3. Reconcile invoices, purchase orders, receiving documents, vendor statements, employee receivables, and AR aging to maintain accurate records.
  4. Prepare journal entries, maintain the cashbook, support sales tax documentation, and help ensure proper expense coding and authorization.
  5. Financial Reporting, Controls, and Team Support
  6. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, inventory reconciliation, cycle count documentation, and reporting of manufacturing, labor, overhead, and spending variances.
  7. Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and audit requirements and support internal and external audits by gathering requested records.
  8. Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies, support continuous improvement, and contribute as a member of the Finance team.

Non-essential Responsibilities:
  1. Performs other duties as directed.
  2. Processes daily mail and support additional finance and administrative duties as assigned in support of business objectives.

Skills and Abilities:
Required education: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in accounting strongly preferred.
Required experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting or related experience preferred; manufacturing experience preferred.
Required proficiencies: Accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, spreadsheet and word processing software, and basic integrated manufacturing systems familiarity.
Required attributes: Strong math skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, initiative, professionalism, and ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in an office setting within a manufacturing environment adjacent to the shop floor. The employee must maintain awareness of plant activity and potential hazards, including moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals, while performing accounting and administrative duties.
