Practical Solutions Counseling, PLLC is a growing counseling practice committed to providing compassionate, clinically excellent, and ethically grounded mental health services. Our practice specializes in trauma-informed care, grief counseling, relationship counseling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), faith-integrated counseling, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support healing, resilience, and personal growth.
We are seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LLPC or LPC) who is passionate about helping clients achieve meaningful progress through intentional, goal-directed treatment. The ideal candidate is compassionate, emotionally intelligent, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively while maintaining the highest standards of ethical and professional care.
Position Summary
The Clinical Mental Health Counselor will provide high-quality psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups across a wide range of mental health concerns. Clinicians are expected to demonstrate strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to establish therapeutic rapport while implementing evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches tailored to each client’s needs.
This position requires a strong commitment to clinical excellence, accurate documentation, ethical integrity, and ongoing professional development in accordance with the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics, HIPAA regulations, and Michigan licensing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy services to diverse populations.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, clinical evaluations, and diagnostic impressions.
- Develop individualized, measurable, and goal-directed treatment plans that promote client growth and symptom reduction.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities appropriate to client needs, including but not limited to CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care, grief therapy, and solution-focused interventions.
- Establish and maintain positive, trusting, and therapeutic relationships with clients.
- Continually assess client progress and modify treatment interventions as clinically appropriate.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and legally compliant clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge summaries.
- Uphold strict client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable ethical and legal standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently with professionalism, sound clinical judgment, initiative, and accountability.
- Participate in clinical consultations, supervision, and team collaboration as needed.
- Coordinate care and collaborate with referral sources, medical providers, schools, community agencies, or support systems when appropriate.
- Provide psychoeducation and involve family members or support systems in treatment when clinically beneficial.
- Maintain active licensure and remain current on continuing education requirements, emerging clinical practices, and evidence-based interventions.
- Uphold the ACA Code of Ethics and demonstrate ethical decision-making, professional boundaries, cultural humility, and clinical integrity in all areas of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.
- Active Michigan licensure as an LLPC or LPC.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention skills.
- Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional documentation standards and manage caseload responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative and team-oriented.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
- Commitment to ethical excellence, professionalism, and client-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relationship concerns, or life transitions.
- Training or experience in CBT, DBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed care, or faith-integrated counseling.
- Experience providing telehealth services.
- Previous outpatient counseling experience preferred.
