The successful candidate will utilize evidence-based therapeutic methods to foster emotional growth and resilience in diverse client populations.

About the Organization

At Positive Steps Consultancy, we are committed to enhancing mental health accessibility and quality care for our clients. Located in Jersey City, New Jersey, we focus on delivering comprehensive mental health services through a team of skilled professionals. We provide an outpatient office infrastructure virtually, enabling counselors to deliver effective therapy sessions and collaborate with colleagues seamlessly through advanced communication tools and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Flexible scheduling options are available to accommodate personal commitments and maximize client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments and create customized treatment plans for clients based on individual needs and goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy, to provide effective clinical interventions.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions for clients to foster support and shared experiences in mental health recovery.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold ethical and legal standards of practice, ensuring all records are current and compliant.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including workshops, to remain informed on the latest research and trends in mental health care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive and integrated client care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with underserved individuals and families who may have limited access to mental health services. Our client population includes those dealing with a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Your role will empower them to achieve their therapeutic goals, improve their mental health, and enhance their overall well-being.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.
  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey is essential.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical counseling experience is required, providing a foundation for effective therapeutic practice.
  • Strong understanding of legal and ethical counseling standards is critical.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to effectively engage with a diverse clientele.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and related software is preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in family therapy, couples therapy, and substance use issues is highly regarded.
  • Specialization in trauma-informed care is a valuable asset.
  • A history of working collaboratively within a healthcare team is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and caseload opportunities. In addition, we provide a robust benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Malpractice insurance coverage to ensure peace of mind.
