Job description

Staff Accountant - Full-time 8:30-5pm M-F

Location: In office, Glastonbury, Connecticut

Reports to: CFO


Summary: Responsible for serving as the staff accountant for PAI and other companies that services are provided for by performing the following high level of duties. Responsibilities are subject to change and special projects may be assigned.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


1.      Generates, records and processes daily IBM and MBM payments as directed. *


2.      Reconciles all subsidy IBM and MBM payments to the general ledger and bank activity on a daily basis. *


3.      Creates weekly invoices for all MBM and IBM payment transactions. *


4.      Reconciles daily MBM and IBM transactions to general ledger. *


5.      Reconciles all other cash accounts contained in the general ledger to the appropriate bank statements on a monthly basis.*


6.      Responsible for recording bank transactions including recording of all transactions such as issuance of checks/ACHs and recording of invoices. *


7.      Preparation of Monthly borrowing certificate to Corresponding Bank.


8.      Responsible or global transfer of funds as directed by CFO. *


9.      Responsible for billing, collection, and posting of appropriate out of pocket expenses, in accordance with the administrative services contract.*


10.  Assists senior accountant with the analysis of information required, in the preparation of reports to the board of directors or the administrator.*


11.  Works with senior accountant and account management on special projects and identifying potential issues. *


12.  Works with auditors during the audit and provides information to CFO as needed in the preparation of monthly and annual administrators reports. *

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software and other office applications including Microsoft Great Plains, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, spreadsheet software, accounting software, payroll time keeping system, and proprietary software, SQUal, Sharp, ad net.


Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training in accounting or finance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Specialized Training:

·        Intermediate or above in Microsoft Excel training

·        Pivot table

·        Grafting


Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

·        Working knowledge of health insurance industry is a plus

·        Ability to exercise sound judgement

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills

·        Excellent customer service skills

·        Attention to detail is a must

·        Ability to be a team player and have a selfless attitude
