Reports to: Food Hub Operations Coordinator
Position Status: Part-time (up to 30 hrs/wk)


PAL: Play. Advocate. Live Well. is a preventative health nonprofit that creates equitable opportunities
for active living and healthy eating in Spartanburg County.
PAL's key projects include hosting the annual downtown Criterium and Turkey Day 8K, spearheading the
Daniel Morgan Trail System and parks like the Rail Yard, partnering on the Saluda Grade Trail, building
the PAL Food Hub, managing the Hub City Farmers' Market, and advocating for a strong local food
system.

Position Summary


The Food Hub Operations Associate is responsible for supporting the operation of the PAL Food Hub and
Mobile Market program. The Food Hub Operations Associate is part of the Food Systems Team that
works together to meet the needs of our local farmers, customers, and food-insecure members of our
community.


Position Responsibilities


Primary Responsibilities:
Run pickup and delivery routes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Pack all necessary supplies for mobile pop-up markets each week
Coordinate product orders with Food Hub Coordinator for mobile stops each week
Deliver/restock Fresh Stops each week (Friday)
Manage mobile stops (4) each week on Monday/Tuesday/Friday
Take transactions via POS system
Report sales to Food Hub Coordinator and Food Systems manager
Transport all unsold product back to Hub or to donation centers


Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist in creating Food Hub availability lists weekly
Take inventory weekly
Implement necessary tracking procedures
Implement food safety policies in facility
Works closely with team to identify and implement opportunities for improvements
Develop marketing materials and educational materials for website, print, and newsletters.
Support PAL staff, initiatives, marketing, and events as needed


Essential Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with and belief in the mission, vision, and values of PAL
Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team
Time and project management skills and follow-through
Attention to operational details and awareness of food safety
Willingness to spend time out of the office doing physical activities - must be able to lift 50#
Willingness to drive and deliver orders
Clean driving record
Act using partnership principles of integrity, respect, humility and inclusion internally and
externally to advance community goals and outcomes
Ability to take feedback and evaluate it for internal improvements
Personable and able to handle sometimes difficult situations with customers
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, able to navigate basic computer databases
Must be able to work independently, handle confidential information, and navigate sensitive
situations
Be capable of exercising a high degree of delegated responsibility
Strong organizational skills
Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
