The Physician Assistant will be utilized as a provider of Orthopaedic Medial care ย ย at Pinnacle Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.ย
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Standard I - Recognizes ย ย role and operates within an integrated plan of care/service
Standard II - Regular ย ย Job Functions
1. Patient ย ย evaluation by performing appropriate history and physical exams;
2. Ordering ย ย laboratory, radiological and special studies;ย
3. Performing ย ย diagnostic procedures such as, but not limited to, physical examination, ย ย joint injections and aspirations and administering of vaccines;
4. Performing ย ย therapeutic procedures such as, but not limited to, suturing of wounds, ย ย foreign body removal, I&D of abscesses, reduction of fractures and ย ย dislocations, splinting, casting, and injections;
5. Assisting ย ย the surgeon in the OR as designated;
6. Reading and ย ย interpreting imaging studies and laboratory reports;
7. Initiation ย ย of life-saving measures as needed;
8. Discharge ย ย Summaries
9. Taking Call ย ย as directed by Pinnacle to include but not limited to weekends and night ย ย callย
10. Telephone ย ย contact with patients as appropriate;
11. Covering ย ย Athletic Venues as requested such as (Sporting Events,Physicals,etc)ย
12. Involvement ย ย in QI and research programs;
13. EMR - ย ย Review and Lock all Notes within Seven Days of date of service and,
14. Attendance ย ย at educational and department meetings.
Standard III Supervising ย ย Physician and PA Relationship
The ย ย PA works under the supervision of an attending physician who has registered ย ย with the Georgia Board of Medical Examiners as one of the PA's supervising ย ย physicians. Routine consultation with ย ย the supervisory or alternate physician regarding patient-care issues is ย ย available in the clinic or by phone contact at all times. The degree of physician supervision of ย ย patient care is variable depending on the patient's problem and condition, as ย ย well as the relationship that has developed between the supervising physician ย ย and the PA.
All ย ย patients seen by the PA will have full written documentation of the visit in ย ย the form of a medical record. This ย ย will include noting any prescriptions written or procedures performed. After the first six months, at the ย ย supervisor's discretion, charts will be reviewed on a random basis, or as the ย ย clinical situation necessitates.
Review ย ย of drugs prescribed will be accomplished at the time of the chart review and ย ย signing to assure continued compliance with the existing written ย ย instructions.
Standard IV Place of Service
The ย ย PA will see patients in all of the offices operated by Pinnacle Orthopaedics ย ย & Sports Medicine, LLC. The PA ย ย will also see patients in Well star Kennestone Hospital, Marietta Surgery ย ย Center, Northside Cherokee Hospital, Advance Surgery Center, Piedmont ย ย Mountainside Hospital, and any other sites that Pinnacle designates. Medical coverage includes care at local ย ย athletic events, amateur or professional, as assigned or approved by Pinnacle ย ย Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, LLC.
Standard V Prescribing ย ย Drugs
Orders ย ย of medication, both in the clinic or by prescription, shall be written. Notation of any orders or prescriptions ย ย shall be documented in the patient's medical record. The drug, dose, quantity and instructions ย ย will be documented in the chart.
Review ย ย of this prescribing authority will be accomplished by routine chart audits ย ย and on an ad hoc basis as determined by the supervising physician or ย ย physicians.
All ย ย medications will be used for approved indications as outlined in the ย ย Physician Assistants' Prescribing Reference.
Drugs ย ย which may not be prescribed, unless by verbal order from the supervising ย ย physician, would include all drugs outside the general accepted practice of ย ย orthopaedic medicine. Review of PA ย ย prescribing authority will be accomplished by routine chart audits and on an ย ย ad hoc basis as determined by the supervising physician or physicians.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum of six months in a physician ย ย office setting performing related functions.ย
Education: ย Degree ย ย - Physician Assistant Program; Certificationย
Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently; CPR
Outside Relationship: Patients, Patient's Families, Pharmacies, Hospitals, ย ย Laboratories.
