Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques
- Perform animal restraint and handling for examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses
- Take and develop X-ray images while ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Provide pet care services including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning and extractions as needed
- Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and maintaining proper animal physiology records
- Handle animal catheterization and venipuncture with precision to facilitate treatments or diagnostics
- Assist with equine care tasks including handling horses, applying restraint techniques specific to large animals, and understanding equine anatomy
- Maintain detailed medical records and documentation for all patient interactions
Requirements
- Proven kennel experience with the ability to handle multiple animals confidently in a busy environment
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, pet grooming, dog training, pet care, and animal restraint techniques
- Familiarity with dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry procedures
- Ability to perform animal catheterization safely and effectively while adhering to aseptic techniques
- Excellent animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, horses (equine experience preferred), and exotic pets
- Prior veterinary technician experience is highly desirable; certification is a plus but not required
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners about animal care needs
