Title: Information Technology Software Developer III

Employment Type: Temporary contract, up to 6 months

Compensation: $53.41-$57.99 per hour

Location: Downtown Los Angeles (Union Station), CA

Work Model: Hybrid; onsite Monday and Tuesday; 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday with alternating Fridays off

Company Overview

A large public-sector utility is seeking an enterprise applications developer to support business-critical systems in a complex operating environment. The assignment offers direct ownership of application modernization, low-code solutions, reporting, automation, and database development.

Position Summary

The Information Technology Software Developer III will develop, administer, and support enterprise business applications. The role centers on Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications, Microsoft Power Platform, relational database programming, and the modernization of legacy Access applications. Exposure to .NET, artificial-intelligence-assisted development, and GitHub Copilot is valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and support enterprise business applications.
  • Build and enhance Microsoft Access and Visual Basic for Applications solutions.
  • Develop low-code applications and workflows using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Microsoft 365.
  • Convert legacy Microsoft Access applications to Power Platform solutions.
  • Design and publish business intelligence reports with Power BI Service and Report Builder.
  • Develop database views, stored procedures, PL/SQL packages, functions, cursors, and complex SQL queries.
  • Build and support web applications and middle-tier components using applicable web and .NET technologies.
  • Diagnose production issues, debug applications and reports, and maintain data integrity.
  • Create prototypes and evaluate modern approaches, including Microsoft Foundry, Copilot, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders while managing multiple priorities independently.

Required Qualifications

  • At least four years of relevant software application development and production support experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications, Power Apps, Power BI Service or Report Builder, Power Automate, and relational database programming.
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle database objects, including views, stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, cursors, joins, unions, subqueries, and exception handling.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, Umbraco, AWS, Microsoft 365, Webflow, Nintex forms/workflows/APIs, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented concepts, reporting tools, web development, data warehousing, extract-transform-load processing, and business intelligence dashboards.
  • Ability to design, code, test, deploy, troubleshoot, prioritize, communicate clearly, and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid California Class C driver license and ability to drive in the course of employment.
  • Must not be a current California Public Employees' Retirement System member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with four years of relevant experience, or master's degree in a related field with two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with the .NET Framework and C# or Visual Basic .NET.
  • Experience with artificial-intelligence-assisted development using Microsoft Foundry or Copilot and GitHub Copilot.
