Company Description Pax Wines is a small independent winery specializing in Syrah and Gamay Noir from cool, coastal California vineyards, along with distinctive varieties that highlight the region’s diversity. The team practices holistic stewardship from vineyard to glass, working exclusively with fruit grown using organic, sustainable, or biodynamic methods and avoiding unnatural additions in the winery. The on-site tasting room and wine bar are located in the lively Barlow Community in downtown Sebastopol, offering a rotating selection of wines by taste, glass, and bottle, paired with thoughtfully chosen food options. Guests enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with an extensive record collection, indoor and outdoor seating, dog-friendly spaces, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

Role Description The Tasting Room Associate is a part-time, on-site role based in Sebastopol, CA. This role is responsible for welcoming guests, guiding them through wine tastings, and providing accurate information about Pax Wines, vineyards, and winemaking practices. Daily tasks include presenting and serving wines, processing sales transactions, restocking merchandise, maintaining a clean and organized tasting room, and supporting food service as needed. The associate will handle reservations and walk-in guests, manage opening and closing procedures, and ensure that all visitors experience a friendly, professional, and engaging environment. Weekend and occasional evening availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Wine Education and product knowledge skills to explain varietals, vineyard practices, and tasting notes confidently.
• Wine Sales and basic point-of-sale skills to promote offerings, process transactions, and support retail goals.
• Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills to create a welcoming environment, build rapport, and address guest needs.
• Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly and represent the brand professionally.
• Previous experience in hospitality, tasting rooms, restaurants, or retail is beneficial.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift cases of wine, and perform light physical tasks as part of daily operations.
• Reliability, punctuality, and comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in California and able to obtain any required local certifications.
