Job description

School Nutrition Assistants (SNP assistant) must complete position appropriate training through the Paulding County School District Nutrition Department. Upon completion of the training, candidates will be eligible to work as a substitute employee in the SNP assistant role. Once a substitute SNP assistant has completed the required substitute hours, they can apply for open SNP assistant positions within the Paulding County School District.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED, preferred
  • 90 Hours Substitute Training
  • 30 Hours State Required Orientation for New Employee Course (ONE). On-going training/professional standards requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Food service environment
  • Exposure to very hot foods, equipment and metal objects
  • Working around knives, slicers, and other sharp objects
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and fumes

Physical Demands:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate nutrition service equipment
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Seeing to monitor food quality and quantity
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy food trays, carts, materials and supplies as assigned by position
  • Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally
  • Bending at waist, kneeling or crouching

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in preparation of various foods for cooking and serving
  • Follows recipes to ensure the menus are nutritious and healthy
  • Use portion control to equally portion all foods
  • Follows all safety regulations
  • Washes small wares and stores them properly
  • Sweeps and cleans kitchen floors
  • Serves on serving line
  • Cleans equipment, kitchen and dining tables, as needed
  • Assists with the unloading and storage of all foods and supplies
  • Performs necessary average lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Implements the local school policy in handling all unusual collection procedures such as non-revenue meals and second meals
  • Follows federal and state laws and PCSD policies
