PathAI Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Pathologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pathologist, you need a medical degree (MD or DO), board certification in pathology, and deep expertise in disease diagnosis through laboratory analysis. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), advanced microscopy, and molecular diagnostic tools is essential. Detail orientation, analytical thinking, and strong written and verbal communication are critical soft skills for effective collaboration and reporting. These competencies are vital to ensure accurate diagnoses, guide patient care, and support multidisciplinary medical teams.

What are some common challenges pathologists face when collaborating with other healthcare professionals?

Pathologists often work behind the scenes, providing critical diagnostic information to clinicians and surgeons. One common challenge is ensuring clear and timely communication with other healthcare professionals to avoid misinterpretations of pathology reports. Additionally, pathologists may need to explain complex findings in accessible terms, especially when results are ambiguous or require further clinical correlation. Building strong interdepartmental relationships and participating in multidisciplinary meetings can help address these challenges and improve patient outcomes.

What are pathologists?

Pathologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. They play a vital role in patient care by helping determine the cause and nature of diseases, often working behind the scenes in laboratories. Pathologists analyze biopsy samples, perform autopsies, and provide crucial information that guides treatment decisions for other physicians. Their expertise is essential in fields such as cancer diagnosis, infectious disease identification, and genetic testing.

What jobs make $3,000 a month without a degree?

For a pathologist, earning $3,000 a month typically requires specialized medical training and a degree; however, in general, jobs such as administrative assistants, sales representatives, or certain skilled trades like electricians or HVAC technicians can reach this income level without a college degree, often requiring vocational training or certifications. These roles may involve working in office environments, retail, or technical fields with on-the-job training or certification programs.

What is the difference between Pathologist vs Medical Laboratory Scientist?

AspectPathologistMedical Laboratory Scientist
CredentialsMedical degree (MD or DO), residency in pathologyBachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field, certification often required
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, laboratories, academic institutionsHospital labs, diagnostic labs, research facilities
Job RoleDiagnoses diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluidsPerforms laboratory tests, prepares samples, reports results

Pathologists and Medical Laboratory Scientists both work in laboratory settings, but pathologists hold medical degrees and diagnose diseases, while Medical Laboratory Scientists perform tests and prepare samples. Pathologists typically have more advanced training and responsibilities in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Who We Are
PathAI is on a mission to improve patient outcomes with AI-powered pathology. We are transforming traditional pathology methods into powerful, new technologies. These innovations in pathology can help accelerate drug development, improve confidence in the accuracy of diagnosis, and get life-saving therapies to patients more quickly. At PathAI, you'll work with a diverse and talented team of people, who are dedicated to solving complex problems and making a huge impact.
Where You Fit
PathAI is seeking a full-time MD Pathologist with strong general surgical pathology skills to join our internal PathAI Pathology team to support customer Biopharma programs, and to help build state-of-the-art artificial intelligence algorithms and digital pathology products. You are a Pathologist who is keen to learn about new DP/AI technologies, is excited to work with Biopharma companies on their key programs, who has experience in biomarker assessment, and who will enjoy interacting with multidisciplinary teams. Level will be commensurate with experience.
What You'll Do
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Pathology, you will serve as a Pathology subject matter expert throughout the company. You will collaborate with Pathology colleagues, Lab Ops and Clin Ops, Biopharma customer teams, project managers, machine learning scientists, and others to ensure the highest quality Pathology support.
  • Collaborate with our Biopharma partners in all aspects of project development for exploratory biomarker and translational projects, as well as clinical services work related to clinical trials running through our GCP, GCLP, CAP and CLIA compliant Biopharma laboratory.
  • Serve as Pathology lead on Biopharma and other projects to recommend scoring approaches, help select network or KOL Pathologists, develop and provide training to clinical trial study readers, participate in manual and digital scoring of Pathology cases in various indications, and conduct internal assay validations.
  • Represent PathAI on calls and face to face with Biopharma customers and KOLs, at Congresses and Meetings, and elsewhere as needed.
  • You'll ensure the quality of annotations from the PathAI Contributor Network, the quality of Biopharma data, and compliance across all projects and programs.
  • Provide Pathology subject matter expert guidance on new potential products, work with multidisciplinary teams to help develop new DP/AI models, assist in model deployments, review the outputs and statistics from the PathAI machine learning algorithms, and provide insights on the overall improvement of the output.
  • Contribute to publications.
What You Bring
  • US board certification in anatomic pathology is required.
  • Expertise and experience in immunohistochemistry and biomarker assessment (ex/ Her2, PDL1 etc), and digital pathology is required.
  • A background in translational research, immuno-oncology, and biomarker development is desired.
  • Fellowship subspecialty training is highly desirable.
  • The right candidate is structured and disciplined, has a natural curiosity about Biopharma programs and biomarker assessment and is also interested in the details of the machine learning field.
  • You have high emotional intelligence, communicate effectively, and are flexible and solution-oriented in your approach to problem solving and your work.
  • You enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams, and are an excellent collaborator, communicator, and team player.
We Want To Hear From You
At PathAI, we are looking for individuals who are team players, are willing to do the work no matter how big or small it may be, and who are passionate about everything they do.
