Department: Business Department Employment Status: Full-Time Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000 Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports the daily and monthly accounting operations of Pathways, Inc.

This position is responsible for assisting with journal entries, account reconciliations, cash activity, financial reporting, audit preparation, payroll support, and other accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and record journal entries. Complete monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Enter and reconcile cash receipts, deposits, and related transactions. Assist with accounts receivable functions and miscellaneous billing. Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules.

Assist with payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, and payroll-related accounting activities as assigned. Maintain accounting records for affiliated organizations using QuickBooks. Process travel reimbursements and other employee expense transactions.

Review account activity, research discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner. Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures. Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial statements.

Assist with annual audit preparation and respond to auditor requests. Maintain organized, accurate, and complete accounting records and documentation. Adhere to established internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting deadlines.

Provide cross-functional support within the Business Department as needed. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Education and Experience Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred. Experience in nonprofit accounting, healthcare accounting, payroll, grants, or fund accounting is preferred but not required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet monthly deadlines. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial and employee information. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to learn accounting, payroll, banking, and financial software systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.

Demonstrated willingness to learn new responsibilities and adapt to changing departmental needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks. Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

Experience with nonprofit accounting practices. Experience assisting with monthly financial close and annual audit preparation. General Expectations The Staff Accountant is expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, dependability, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to accuracy.
