Role Description The Line Cook role at PapiChulas is a full-time, on-site position based in Detroit, MI. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing ingredients, cooking menu items to established recipes and standards, and plating dishes accurately and efficiently during service. The Line Cook will maintain a clean and organized workstation, follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, and assist with inventory, prep work, and restocking as needed. This role collaborates closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service, consistent quality, and smooth kitchen operations, while supporting a respectful and team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
  • Professional experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar kitchen role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and safe food-handling practices, including adherence to health and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines accurately, with attention to detail, consistency, and presentation quality.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work efficiently during peak service hours.
  • Team-oriented mindset, clear communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a busy kitchen environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; formal culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
