Pulmonary Technologist

Training Location: You will train at Sibley Memorial for 6+/- months: 5215 Loughboro Rd , Washington DC, 20016
Permanant location: 7171 Cardinal Lane, Falls Church, VA
Job Summary:
As a Pulmonary Technologist, you will measure, analyze, and record pulmonary function procedures and perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing for patients on care units, in the department, and in the outpatient clinic. Working under the direction of a physician and the laboratory coordinator/manager, you'll serve as a go-to resource within the Pulmonary Laboratory, performing routine pulmonary function testing and cardiac monitoring independently. You'll implement quality assurance and quality control programs, train new employees, troubleshoot equipment issues, and help ensure adherence to Joint Commission and regulatory standards. You'll also participate in educational and clinical programs, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and attend continuing education seminars to stay current in your field.
Who Should Apply
  • High School diploma or GED with certificate in respiratory therapy OR Associate's degree in respiratory therapy OR Bachelor's degree in health science or biology required.
  • One year (12 months) experience in a pulmonary function lab, preferably in an academic/research environment.
  • CPR (BLS) certification required.
  • Credentialing through the N.B.R.C. as a respiratory care practitioner or pulmonary function technologist required (certification and/or registry). Must maintain certification throughout employment. If not credentialed, must become credentialed within 2 years of employment.
