Responsible for operating a mini excavator to install underground electrical services for new residential homes.
Duties include:
- Trenching for service lines
- ย Reading site plans and utility layouts
- Safely working around existing utilities
- Backfilling and grading trenches, and assisting crews with conduit placement and service installation.
- Ensures equipment is operated safely, job sites remain clean and organized, and work is completed according to company standards, schedules, and local codes.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, or loaders in a construction or industrial setting.
- Proven track record of safely and efficiently operating equipment in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Experience in performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical issues.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness to maneuver equipment in tight spaces and challenging environments.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical manuals to execute tasks accurately.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders on project requirements and progress.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and operate equipment for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and, if applicable, a commercial driver's license (CDL) is required.
