Description
Summary:
Orchard Support Checkers are responsible for overseeing an assigned group of pickers, tracing, monitoring, and supporting them throughout the orchard. Using a handheld device, the Checker accurately scans each bucket of cherries before it is dumped into the fruit bin for each employee.
Work starts at 5:00 am, Monday through Sunday. Minors will be scheduled a day off per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure that cherry bucket is filled to the required level before scanning them.
• Follow directions from the Pounch Coordinator and Operational Tema Leader.
• Report absences, accidents, or other concerns to the Punch Coordinator or assigned Operation Team Leader.
• Collect and report all required documentation for employees.
• Follow all safety procedures and food hygiene standards.
• Inspect bins prior to any employee dumping their bucket of cherries and removing any contaminants, including:
o Branches
o Leaves
o Bird droppings or other debris
Skills and Qualifications:
• Must be 14 years or older
• Must complete required training provided by Orchard View, Inc.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions in Spanish and/or English and read warning signs and labels.
• Must have reliable transportation to assigned work locations.
Working Conditions:
• Work begins at 5:00 AM.
• Schedule includes Monday through Sunday workdays.
• Minors will be scheduled at least one day off per week.
• Employees may work up to 10 hours per day and 60 hours per week.
• Regular exposure to outdoor orchard environments, including dirt, debris, odors, and noise.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and stretch for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, temperatures, and uneven terrain.
• Must wear appropriate, clean clothing and footwear suitable for working conditions; clothing must be free of rips, tears, or loose fabric that could pose a safety risk.
