Position Overview
OKSI is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design and deployment of ruggedized, mission-critical electronics for defense and environmental applications. You'll own hardware design from architecture through field validation on systems where reliability is uncompromising, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor early-career engineers.
What You Will Do
- Design circuit boards and electronic systems that need to be reliable and work in tough conditions
- Define what the system needs to do and test it meets those requirements
- Integrate components like processors, sensors, and power systems; work with software teams on how hardware and software talk to each other
- Lead the design from start through production
- Mentor junior engineers and interns
- Lead design reviews and troubleshoot problems when they come up
- Create test plans and run lab tests to make sure everything works (testing in heat, cold, vibration, etc.)
- Keep all design documentation organized (schematics, parts lists, test results)
- Work with vendors on circuit board manufacturing and component sourcing
- Suggest improvementsโnew parts, tools, or methods that make systems better, more reliable, or more efficient
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of hardware design or electronics engineering experience
- Experience designing electronics and testing them in challenging conditions
- Ability to lead projects and mentor others
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check
Nice to Have
- Aerospace or defense industry experience
- Experience with circuit board design, FPGA programming, or low-level firmware
- Familiarity with government contracting or compliance requirements (ITAR, export controls)
- Active DoD security clearance or eligibility
Compensation and Benefits
- $105,750 โ $143,073 annually
