Location: Onsite - Jackson, MI
Shift Hours
• Flexible hours Start times from 6:00 am to 9:00 am
Schedule Notes
• Minimum Exp: 1 year of recent full-time experience (within past 5 years) as a RD in acute care, nursing home or inpatient rehab/LTACH setting
Required:
• Trained in completion of NFPE
• Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition
• Will consider 1 year of less recent full-time experience (within past 8 years) as a RD in acute care, nursing home or inpatient rehab/LTACH setting on a case-by-case basis
• Prefer: ICU experience
• Must have experience listed in acute care, nursing home, inpatient rehab/LTACH)
• Shift: 4 - 10s or 5 - 8's or combination on shift hours Flexibility on start and stop time
Job Summary
The Registered Dietitian provides comprehensive nutritional care to patients and serves as a nutrition consultant and resource to the healthcare team. The role includes nutritional assessment, diagnosis, individualized nutrition interventions, patient and family counseling, education, and evaluation of outcomes. The Registered Dietitian collaborates with healthcare providers to support safe, effective, and patient-centered nutritional care
Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' nutritional needs using medical records, patient history, anthropometric measurements, laboratory data, and nutrition-focused physical findings.
  • Identify nutrition-related problems and establish appropriate nutrition diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on patient needs and clinical conditions.
  • Provide nutrition therapy, including meal planning, supplements, enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, and other appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor patient food tolerance, nutritional intake, and progress toward established nutrition goals.
  • Evaluate clinical and nutrition-related outcomes and modify interventions as appropriate.
  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families regarding therapeutic diets and nutrition management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient nutritional care.
  • Communicate relevant nutrition-related findings, laboratory results, and diet therapy recommendations to the healthcare team.
  • Document nutrition assessments, interventions, education, and follow-up care in the medical record.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training, community education programs, seminars, and other nutrition-related educational activities.
  • Develop and maintain educational resources appropriate for patients and healthcare audiences.
  • Supervise and mentor dietetic interns and students as assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison with culinary wellness and patient foodservice teams to address patient and staff nutrition-related needs.
  • Participate in committees, special projects, quality improvement activities, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills through continuing education and professional activities.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a related field with completion of an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and supervised practice program/dietetic internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • For initial CDR registration effective on or after January 1, 2024, a Master's degree is required along with the required dietetics education and supervised practice program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent full-time Registered Dietitian experience within the past 5 years in acute care, nursing home, inpatient rehabilitation, or LTACH settings.
  • Experience performing Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE).
  • Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and clinical skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and understand medical terminology.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Practice Certification.
  • ICU experience.
  • Less recent full-time Registered Dietitian experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Required Certification & Licensure
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Working Conditions
Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
