Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify their specific emotional and psychological care needs.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on issues such as loss, life transitions, and emotional challenges associated with aging.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that address the unique needs of our geriatric clients.
• Provide educational sessions for staff and families, sharing strategies to enhance the mental well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Lead grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families dealing with end-of-life issues, guiding them through the grieving process with sensitivity.
• Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs alongside mental health interventions aimed at improving mental acuity for older adults.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on elderly individuals, including seniors grappling with mental health challenges linked to aging, such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline. You will also support their families to enhance emotional resilience and understanding during tough transitions.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• At least four years of recent experience providing counseling or mental health support, specifically within a geriatric context.
• Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored for the elderly population.

Preferred Experience

• Specialized training in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
• A proven track record of delivering effective counseling services to older adults dealing with a variety of mental health challenges.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of USD 65,000 to 95,000 annually, along with a potential sign-on bonus.
