Job description

Title: PLC Control Engineer
Location: Crookston, MN / Manitoba, Canada

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Create engineering designs, especially PLC programs and electrical checkout procedures, that meet customer specifications, ensuring designs are within manufacturing abilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulation.
  • Complete controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
  • Investigate and resolve electrical and programming issues encountered on the production line during electrical checkout.
  • Create and release programming updates and other engineering solutions as needed.
  • Support issue resolution using J1939 network traffic analysis as needed.
  • Execute in-plant testing of electrical and programming solutions as required by colleagues.
  • Support supplier application approvals, vendor tests, config audits, and other online activities as needed.
  • Provide general status of online builds, identify and address potential roadblocks preventing deliveries
  • Check engineering documents, instructions to service, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.


MUST-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Education
    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Electrical/Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Years of Experience
    • 5+ years of work experience.
    • Minimum of 3 years+ of equivalent related industry / technology experience.
  • PLC Platform
    • Must have Parker-Vansco 1615 work experience
    • Alternatively, similar or equivalent PLC Platform experience (Allen Bradley / Siemens) is acceptable with strong fundamentals
  • Domain Skills
    • Low voltage checkout/ troubleshooting.
    • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
    • PLC Programming with Ladder Logic
    • HMI Programming
    • CAN based interfacing of third party devices
    • Integration with Automotive preferably Bus/Truck systems such as motors, invertors, controllers for devices (like vision systems, displays, compressors, pumps etc.)

oKnowledge on Camera systems, March, Apollo, Saucom, Seon, Safety Vision, Mobileview, Brigrade

    • Voice annunciator (AVA), Digital Recorder, Clever, Syncromatic, Avail
    • Passenger counter (APC)- INIT, IRMA, IRIS, Hella
    • Collision avoidance- Mobileye-Driver awareness, Protran, Mobileview
    • TPMS- tire pressure, Bendix, WABCO
  • Ability to work independently
