Job Overview:
One Behavioral is seeking an experienced Inpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide PRN psychiatric coverage in an inpatient behavioral health setting located in Austin, TX. The provider will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver safe, timely, and high-quality psychiatric care.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychiatric provider seeking flexible PRN weekday and/or weekend coverage.
Patient Volume
Weekdays: Up to approximately 25 patients
Weekends: Up to approximately 30 patients
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up assessments.
  • Provide medication management and make medication adjustments as clinically appropriate.
  • Assess patient symptoms, treatment response, progress, laboratory results, and relevant medical information.
  • Develop and update treatment plans based on patients’ clinical needs.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nursing staff, social workers, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Monitor patient safety, psychiatric symptoms, and risk factors.
  • Document medical necessity, clinical progress, risk, and continued level-of-care needs.
  • Participate in discharge planning and support continuity of care.
  • Provide PRN coverage based on patient census, staffing needs, and hospital requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, regulatory, and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.
  • Current prescribing authority and DEA registration, as applicable.
  • Previous inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong psychiatric assessment, clinical judgment, and medication-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Ability to efficiently manage a fast-paced inpatient psychiatric caseload.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, quality of care, and professional standards.
