Job description

ASBESTOS FIELD PROJECT MONITORS/AIR SAMPLING TECHNICIANS
Our firm Omega Environmental Services with its main office in S. Hackensack, NJ, and a satellite office in NYC has continued to expand and evolve as an essential environmental health and safety business during COVID-19. We currently have open asbestos and other field positions for qualified individuals with good communication skills and reliability. We are interested in both candidates with asbestos industry experience/certification(s), as well as entry-level individuals looking to make a career change and/or jumpstart a new career pathway in environmental health and safety.

[Asbestos Project Monitor/AST job details]
1. After orientation, training, and equipment assignment is complete, project field assignment set-up sheets are emailed out to asbestos field staff based upon their availability (days/nights/weekends).

2. For larger projects greater than 5 shifts, a Project Manager will also coordinate an on-site kick-off meeting to discuss job-specific requirements. A field tech can call the Project Manager and/or Training Coordinator at any time if they have any questions or concerns.

3. PM/AST travels to NY and/or NJ sites with air sampling equipment and required field documentation (punctuality is important because clients/contractors are waiting for us to start abatement projects).

4. Asbestos air samples are set up at/around abatement work areas(s) according to published regulations and typically run 6-8 hours (while field tech. has to be present on-site and continuously observe and draft a sketch).

5. After the monitoring shift, the field technician packages/ships air sample cassettes to the assigned laboratory and heads home or back to the office if there are equipment needs.

6. Air results are posted on-site following shift.
Qualified candidates must have good communication, computer, and writing skills, plus be able to travel to/from project sites in New Jersey and New York.
