About this Position

Are you a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting a variety of people and projects? The Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Research & Financial Services team.

In this role, you will provide essential financial and administrative support across the college, serving as a trusted resource for academic departments, centers, and administrative offices. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, delivering excellent customer service, and collaborating with colleagues throughout the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a backup resource for financial and administrative operations across the Spears School of Business and assist with training new support staff.
  • Support the onboarding of student employees, graduate assistants, and lecturers.
  • Process purchase requests, foundation vouchers, and other business transactions as needed. Assist with reconciliations and QuickBooks entry.
  • Review travel requests and vouchers for accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a resource on university travel policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to departments and centers during staffing shortages, employee absences, or periods of increased workload.
  • Assist the Accountant III with projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to build broad experience in accounting, financial operations, and university administration while contributing to the success of one of Oklahoma State University's premier academic colleges.

Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Spclt Acctg - High school/GED and 2 years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping. 

    Spclt Acctg Sr - High school/GED and 3 years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping.

    Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Experience with handling complex tasks. Knowledge of:

  • General office duties
  • accounting principles related to classifying, recording, and summarizing data
  • making computations to compile and keep financial records.
  • Examines and analyzes accounting records for purposes of preparing statements and reports.

  • Bachelor's

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Experience with account reconciliation.

Working Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Suite including Excel
  • Quickbooks
  • OKCorral
  • OSU Banner systems including finance, HR, and student systems.
  • OSU forms such as travel, foundation, and payroll.
  • OSU policy and procedures.
