About the Role:

The Produce Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of fruits and vegetables within a retail environment. This position is responsible for maintaining an appealing and well-stocked produce department that meets customer expectations and supports overall store sales goals. The Produce Associate will handle the receiving, inspection, and proper storage of produce items to minimize waste and maximize shelf life. Additionally, this role involves providing excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product selection and answering questions about produce varieties and usage. The ultimate goal is to create a welcoming and efficient produce section that enhances the shopping experience and drives repeat business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment, preferably in produce or perishables.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of produce varieties and proper handling techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with inventory management systems or point-of-sale technology.
  • Certification in food safety or handling (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Familiarity with organic and specialty produce items.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Bilingual skills to assist a diverse customer base.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect incoming produce shipments for quality, freshness, and accuracy.
