Contract WordPress Specialist

Contract Type: Independent Contractor
Hours: Project-based, with weekly availability as needed

Overview

We are seeking a skilled WordPress Specialist to support ongoing website builds, updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multiple client sites. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and experienced in customizing WordPress themes, plugins, and functionality to meet specific project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Edit and maintain WordPress websites using best practices.
• Configure, modify, and troubleshoot themes.
• Install, configure, and manage plugins to extend site functionality.
• Perform routine site maintenance, updates, and optimizations.
• Create responsive, user-friendly page layouts using builders (e.g., Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg) or custom code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, performance problems, or conflicts.
• Manage WordPress hosting environments, backups, and site migrations.
• Ensure site security, monitor vulnerabilities, and apply updates safely.
• Transfer website domains in and out of GoDaddy.
• Transfer website hosting from various sources to Flywheel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining WordPress websites.
• Strong understanding of WordPress core, themes, and plugin architecture
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and basic PHP for customization.
• Experience with page builders such as Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, or Gutenberg.
• Ability to diagnose and fix plugin/theme conflicts and technical issues.
• Familiarity with hosting control panels, DNS, SSL, and basic server environments.
• Experience migrating sites, setting up staging environments, and restoring backups.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
• Agency experience or handling multiple client sites is a plus.

Contract Details

• Hourly compensation.
• Flexible working hours with agreed-upon deadlines.
• Must supply your own equipment, software, and internet access.
• Work may include ongoing updates, support, and maintenance as needed.
• Must be eligible to work as an independent contractor in the U.S.
