Job description

Staff Accountant

For 30-years, ODIN EPC, Inc. (ODIN) has been providing unique engineering and turnkey solutions to our customers on natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other energy projects. Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Operations, the Staff Accountant is responsible for Accounting and Finance related tasks, including data entry, administrating weekly time sheets & expense reports, developing and maintaining department budgets, supporting preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, and processing/generating vendor payments and client invoices. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work closely with project managers and senior management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
This position is hybrid and requires time to be spent in office.

Minimum Qualifications

•         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•         Accrual Accounting experience/expertise.

•         Data Entry and Reconciliation experience.

•         Ability to work independently and in coordination with others.

•         Demonstrated proficiency working with office computer applications such as Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, and automated accounting systems, (Acumatica preferred).

  • Accounting experience in an Engineering or Construction organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
  • Demonstrated communications skills to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize work in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems by using analytical skills to reach a logical conclusion.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties represent the essential functions of this position; other duties may be assigned.

  • Process/administer weekly timesheets.
  • Process payables and receivables.
  • Manage and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Perform standard journal entries, manage monthly accruals and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll reports to general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with monthly and annual closing process and assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and report on significant variances.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring collections and payments.
  • Prepare monthly sales and use taxes for submission by state.
  • Audit support.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Exercise discretion, independent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in providing quality services.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and meet established work schedules, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work effectively with other departments, including Sales, Procurement, Engineering, Design and Human Resources, to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.

Travel Requirements
Occasional travel, estimated at approximately 5% of work time, may be required. Travel will primarily be within the United States.

Working Conditions
This role is classified as light work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds and frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds. Duties may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, grasping, and other repetitive motions.
