OC Mentors is a tutoring organization serving students throughout Orange County, with strong connections to the UC Irvine (UCI) community and surrounding areas. We connect students with qualified tutors who provide personalized, high-quality academic support.

We are currently expanding our network of in-person Math Tutors to meet growing tutoring demand around UCI and Orange County.

Role Overview

As an In-Person Math Tutor, you will provide personalized one-on-one or small-group math tutoring to students in the Orange County area, with a primary focus on UCI and surrounding communities.

Tutors will work directly with students to strengthen their understanding of mathematical concepts, improve problem-solving skills, prepare for exams, and build academic confidence.

This position is for in-person tutoring only. Applicants must be located in or able to reliably travel to the UCI/Orange County area for tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one or small-group in-person Math tutoring sessions
• Tutor students in one or more areas of mathematics based on your experience
• Explain mathematical concepts in clear, understandable ways
• Adapt instruction to each student's academic level and learning style
• Assist students with homework, test preparation, and concept mastery
• Develop lesson plans or practice materials when appropriate
• Track student progress and submit brief post-lesson reports
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and OC Mentors
• Maintain a reliable, patient, and encouraging tutoring environment
• Travel to agreed-upon tutoring locations in the UCI and Orange County area

Subjects We Are Looking For

We are currently seeking tutors who can teach one or more of the following:

• College Algebra
• Pre-Calculus
• Calculus I, II, and III
• Linear Algebra
• Differential Equations
• Probability and Statistics
• Other college-level mathematics courses

Applicants do not need to tutor every subject listed above. Please indicate the highest level of Math you are comfortable tutoring.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Strong proficiency in college-level mathematics
• Ability to explain complex math concepts clearly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide in-person tutoring in the UCI/Orange County area
• Reliable and professional
• Must pass a background check

Preferred

• Current UCI student or graduate
• Pursuing or completed a degree in Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience
• Proficiency in Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Statistics, or other college-level math courses
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
