SUMMARY
Provide oversight and leadership for a team of engineers who monitor reactor core and nuclear fuel performance. This includes conducting reactor surveillance, managing reload startup testing, and monitoring core performance trends. The role is responsible for evaluating fuel performance, reviewing proposed fuel design changes, and coordinating fuel inspection and repair work. The supervisor also provides reactivity management support to reactor operations and directs programs related to Special Nuclear Material and fuel integrity. Additionally, the position ensures effective management of fuel assemblies throughout their lifecycle.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Nuclear Engineering (Required)
EXPERIENCE
• 4 years of power plant experience or other relevant experience with a minimum of 1 year in nuclear power plant experience (Required); 5 years of total relevant experience is preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience. (Preferred)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• Current or previous SRO license or certification preferred
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Directs the analysis of plant performance and provides recommendations regarding plant operations, maintenance, or testing.
• Acts as advocate for plant system/component health and the continuous improvement of plant performance and reliability.
• Perform periodic Technical Specification surveillance testing to verify that the reactor core is operating within prescribed limits during the fuel cycle.
• Perform post-refueling low power physics and power ascension testing to verify that the reactor core operates within established design and safety review criteria.
• Perform periodic engineering tests to evaluate or establish specific reactor characteristics or conditions.
• Monitor, trend, and evaluate reactor core performance using test results, chemistry samples, and plant instrumentation indications or plant computer logs of reactor parameters.
• Coordinate movement, repair, and inspections of nuclear fuel assemblies, prepare fuel movement forms, provide fuel handling recommendations to Operations, and support the fuel integrity program.
• Perform procedural actions to provide control and accountability of Special Nuclear Material within the plant.
• Perform technical reviews of procedures, modification packages, operating experience, and plant evaluations which can affect reactivity, and make recommendations to improve the control and management of reactivity at the station.
• Prepare and review procedures, calculations, safety evaluations, and technical computer codes.
• Perform reviews of operating experience reports and Technical Specification changes.
• Provide reactivity management and reactor core operation technical guidance to plant operations.
• Use technical computer codes to obtain or evaluate reactor data.
• Identifies and performs engineering evaluations of nuclear fuel and core component conditions adverse to quality. Evaluates nuclear fuel and core component design changes and prepares recommendations for management approval.
• Monitors lifetime and recommend replacement schedules for core components such as control rods and secondary sources.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
• Ensures development plans are in place and followed.
• Performs personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals).
• Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).
• Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.
• Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.
• Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.
• Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.
• Understands and implements company policies.
• Provides employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.
FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations.
• Understands and manages to financial and budget targets. Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as needed.
• Accept outage position as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• May be required to carry pager/phone.
• Travel may be required.
WORK LOCATION
• Site - Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
