Northwest Regional Library System

The Board of Trustees of the St. Marys Community Public Library seeks an experienced, visionary leader for our next director. As Library Director, you will provide strategic leadership for the organization while serving as a visible and engaged leader within the community. The successful candidate will foster strong relationships with staff, patrons, community organizations, local government, and other stakeholders, ensuring the library continues to meet the evolving needs of those it serves.

Qualifications

• Master of Library Science from an ALA‑accredited program.
• A minimum of 4 years of library experience with progressive levels of responsibility.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to work day, evening and weekend hours.
• Access to transportation.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the library and its staff of 17 employees. Although the work schedule is flexible, the applicant will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.

The library is part of the Serving Every Ohioan library consortium. SEO (Serving Every Ohioan) Service Center, located in Caldwell, is a branch of the State Library of Ohio, which supports a consortium of 104 library systems at 290 service points throughout 52 counties across Ohio using the OPLIN network. SEO supports a centralized shared catalog database that includes over 8.1 million items with a patron database of nearly one million users, with an annual circulation of over 15 million.

St Marys is a historic canal town located on the Buckeye Trail with a population of 8,400. Located in a rural community with a small‑industry base, St. Marys is within driving distance of Ft. Wayne, Lima, Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo.
