Front desk receptionist 

Position Summary: 
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and compassionate individual to join our ophthalmology practice as a Front Desk Receptionist. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in healthcare administration and patient services. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment. 
  • Check patients in and out for ophthalmology and optometry appointments. 
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars, including surgical and diagnostic testing schedules. 
  • Answer incoming calls, route messages appropriately, and provide clear information regarding office policies. 
  • Verify medical insurance and vision plan eligibility; collect co-pays and balances. 
  • Assist patients with completing forms, including medical history and consent forms. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. 
  • Perform filing, scanning, and data entry into the electronic health record (EHR) system. 
  • Prepare and organize charts, referrals, and testing documentation as needed. 
  • Prepare medical records as needed. 
  • Keep the front desk and waiting area clean, organized, and patient-ready. 
  • Special projects. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Basic computer proficiency. 
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with a patient-first attitude. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Previous experience in a medical office is helpful but not required. 
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes is helpful but not required.
