Senior Commercial Account ManagerOverview

Wheeler & Taylor Insurance is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Account Manager in the Hartford, CT market to support our expanding Commercial Lines team. As one of the nation's historic insurance centers, Hartford is home to some of the industry's most experienced insurance professionals, and we are looking for a talented account manager who can bring their expertise to a growing independent agency.

Based in the Northeast and serving clients across multiple markets, Wheeler & Taylor offers experienced insurance professionals the opportunity to bring their expertise to a collaborative environment where relationships, ownership, and exceptional service are valued.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and service an assigned book of commercial insurance accounts from renewal through ongoing account management.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and serve as their primary service contact.
  • Prepare renewals, marketing submissions, proposals, policy changes, endorsements, certificates, and other account servicing needs.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and underwriters to negotiate coverage options and resolve complex service issues.
  • Review policies for accuracy and identify coverage gaps or opportunities to better protect clients.
  • Support Producers throughout the renewal process and assist with new business opportunities.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and collaborate with internal specialists when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation within the agency management system.
  • Assist with claims, billing questions, and policy interpretation as needed.
  • Stay current on commercial insurance products, carrier updates, and industry trends.
  • Mentor and support junior service team members when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of Commercial Lines Account Management experience within an independent insurance agency or brokerage.
  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance License (resident or ability to obtain required state licenses).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages across multiple industries.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and client relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with agency management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple accounts while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional designations such as CIC, CISR, CRM, ARM, or CPCU are highly valued.
