About the Opportunity

A well-established MEP design firm is expanding its Kansas City office and seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead projects across commercial, education, healthcare, aviation, and civic markets. This is a leadership-track position with opportunities to mentor others, manage clients, and shape high-performance building systems from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
  • Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and life-cycle cost analysis.
  • Create construction drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure cohesive design solutions.
  • Review submittals, answer RFIs, and support field observations.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide quality assurance on design deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IMC, and local building codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (MO or KS preferred).
  • 8–15 years of mechanical design experience with MEP or consulting firms.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load analysis software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design, LEED guidelines, and energy codes preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $100,000+, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, plus company-paid life and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match and profit sharing
  • Generous paid time off and 10 annual holidays
  • Hybrid work flexibility with professional development support
  • Optional HSA/FSA plans and employee assistance resources
