Job Summary

Position in the Scientific and Statistical Computing Core (SSCC), within the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD, USA.

Our Core works on methods development, collaborative applications and education within the field of FMRI/MRI/neuroimaging. We partner with investigators at NIMH, NIH and globally on an extensive range of FMRI/MRI/neuroimaging projects, particularly around brain disorders and mental health research. Our Core also focuses on teaching and training through bootcamps, online discussions, mentorship, and consultations with practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Develop new programs and tools for FMRI/MRI/neuroimaging data analysis.
• Test and maintain existing software and pipelines.
• Script pipelines and contribute to data visualization tools.
• Collaborate with Core members and external investigators on diverse projects.
• Work independently and in teams to solve complex problems.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative skills (background in STEM, computing, statistics, or related fields).
• Experience with Python and C programming; familiarity with R and shell scripting is a plus.
• Background in FMRI, MRI or other neuroimaging modalities desirable but not required.
• Solid experience or strong background in software development, data analysis, machine learning methods, and/or statistics.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Position Details

The earliest start date is November 1, 2026, with some flexibility. The position is located at NIH Campus in Bethesda, MD, just outside Washington, DC.
