Job Description: Telecom Engineer Position: Telecom Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Telecom Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems and network infrastructure. The role involves supporting voice, data, transmission, and communication platforms while ensuring reliable, high-quality, and secure telecom services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain telecom infrastructure and communication systems.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot telecom networks, voice services, and transmission links.

  • Support PBX, VoIP, SIP, ISDN, PRI, and other voice communication technologies.

  • Configure and maintain telecom equipment including switches, routers, gateways, Clients, and voice platforms.

  • Perform fault analysis and resolve network, signaling, and connectivity issues.

  • Manage call routing, numbering plans, dial plans, extensions, and telecom configurations.

  • Conduct telecom system upgrades, migrations, backups, and performance optimization.

  • Monitor network performance, voice quality, availability, and service-level requirements.

  • Work with carriers/service providers for circuit provisioning, outages, and escalations.

  • Perform installation, testing, and commissioning of telecom equipment.

  • Maintain documentation of network diagrams, configurations, inventory, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Provide technical support for telecom-related incidents and user issues.

  • Follow security standards and best practices for telecom infrastructure.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Experience with telecom networks, voice systems, and communication technologies.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • SIP, VoIP, RTP, SS7, ISDN, PRI, and PSTN concepts

    • TCP/IP networking fundamentals

    • Routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, and IP addressing

  • Hands-on experience with telecom platforms such as:

    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)

    • Avaya

    • Asterisk / FreePBX

    • Session Border Controllers (Client)

    • Voice gateways

  • Knowledge of telecom troubleshooting tools and network monitoring systems.

  • Familiarity with Linux systems and command-line troubleshooting is an advantage.

  • Experience working with telecom operators and service providers is preferred.

Preferred Certifications

  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP Collaboration

  • VoIP/SIP certifications

  • Network certifications

  • Vendor-specific telecom certifications

Soft Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage critical incidents.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with network, IT, and service provider teams.

Experience Level

  • 2-5+ years of experience in Telecom Engineering, Voice Engineering, or Network Operations.
