Job description

Aerospace is at a turning point - costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can't keep up. At Neon Aero, we're breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.
Here, you won't just take a job - you'll help reinvent how the world flies. If you're ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.
Neon is seeking a Senior Engineer - Propellers to lead key engineering work across propeller system design, analysis, certification, and production support. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex mechanical and aerospace problems, working closely with manufacturing and suppliers, and helping bring high-performance hardware from concept into production.
Why This Role Matters
  • Lead critical propeller system engineering work across development, certification, and production support.
  • Help shape technical direction through requirements definition, trade studies, and design evaluation.
  • Improve product performance, manufacturability, and readiness for production.
  • Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve issues and keep programs moving.
  • Work in a fast-paced development environment with meaningful ownership and cross-functional impact.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 6 years of aerospace Materials & Process Engineering experience supporting metallic and composite aircraft structures.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace composite materials, adhesive bonding, metallic materials, and composite fabrication processes, including prepreg layup, resin infusion/RTM, curing, machining, and assembly.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and approving manufacturing process specifications, material specifications, work instructions, and engineering standards.
  • Experience qualifying aerospace materials and manufacturing processes, including process development, validation, and production implementation.
  • Experience supporting Material Review Board (MRB) activities, nonconformance disposition, concession/deviation requests, and root cause/corrective action investigations.
  • Experience collaborating with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to transition products from development into production while ensuring process capability and product quality.
  • Strong engineering judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills, with an interest in aircraft propulsion systems and composite manufacturing.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting certification testing and qualification of composite materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience evaluating material substitutions, supplier changes, and manufacturing process deviations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace environmental durability, fatigue, and damage tolerance considerations for composite structures.
  • Experience supporting or transitioning a design into a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical hands-on experience in prototype, test, manufacturing, or related engineering support environments.
  • Familiarity with propeller systems or rotating mechanical systems.

Why Join Us
  • Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
  • Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable - the future of aviation.
  • Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full health benefits (health, vision, dental, 401(k)) designed to support you in and out of work.

This is the expected compensation range for this role. Final compensation will be based on role scope, experience, skills, internal equity and location. This role may also be eligible for bonus/equity/benefits, if applicable.
$110,000-$123,750 USD
