We are seeking a Director to join our creative production operations team at Fort Worth, Texas working in our state-of-the-art facility supporting KXAS/KXTX.  The ideal candidate is naturally curious, innovative, and motivated to lead the evolution of news production. We are seeking a proactive leader to champion and own the development and implementation of innovative technology and operational workflows.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and operate various live and/or recorded television productions in a bilingual environment using the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control system.
  • Code and execute newscasts using production automation; build master rundown patterns for all television broadcasts.
  • Work closely with editorial and production personnel from concept to final production.
  • Shape the creative appearance of broadcasts using video, audio, and graphics effects.
  • Give direction and timing cues to talent and other technicians.
  • Operate automated graphics, audio, camera control, and clip playback servers.
  • Ensure execution aligns with standard operating procedures and best workflows.
  • Responsible for the ultimate technical quality of production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as needed.
  • Submit End of Show reports.
  • Participate in various feedback sessions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications / Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in medium to large market local news TD/Directing, with expertise in Ross Overdrive Production Automation or similar systems.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, journalism, engineering, radio, television & film, operations, media production, related fields, or equivalent experience.
    • Must be able to work any shift in a 24x7 schedule, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility for schedule changes and short notice.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Experience directing and operating television production systems for mid to major market news or live events.
    • Strong technical understanding and ability to troubleshoot operational issues.
    • Calm leadership in high-pressure, breaking news situations.
    • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work accurately under pressure and deadlines.
    • Positive, customer service-oriented attitude.
    • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and prioritize decisions.
    • Self-motivated, highly creative, and collaborative.
    • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) oral proficiency is a plus.

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be willing to work onsite at the production center in Fort Worth, Texas.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
