Paralegal Position Summary

The Paralegal provides legal and administrative support to the Trustee and Staff Attorneys. This position is responsible for preparing for 341 Meetings of Creditors and reviewing Chapter 13 plans for confirmation to ensure compliance with applicable bankruptcy laws, rules, and Trustee procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and prepare documents for 341 Meetings of Creditors; identify and flag deficiencies.
  • Review Proofs of Claim for accuracy and reconcile claims with the Chapter 13 plan and schedules.
  • Enter various post-confirmation orders into case-management software.
  • Analyze Chapter 13 plans for compliance with the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and applicable local rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Paralegal Studies or Legal Studies; a paralegal certificate or a minimum of three years of related work experience will also be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
  • The ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex bankruptcy issues, identify key considerations, and seek clarification when necessary.
