Job description

Technical Certification Consultant ( Instructional Design , Assessment Credentialing ) | Pune or Hyderabad

The Certification Consultant leads the development and implementation of technical certifications and assessments. This role owns the full lifecycle of technical certification development from Job Task Analysis (JTA), Minimally Qualified Candidate profiling, and examination blueprint design through item development, standard setting, and ongoing certification maintenance. This is a cross-functional role that draws on expertise in certification industry standards, instructional design methodology, psychometric principles, project execution, and stakeholder management. The Certification Consultant applies data-driven decision making and structured program management practices, with a focus on quality, to deliver technical credentials that carry genuine professional value across the Cornerstone ecosystem.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Certification Assessment Design and Development : Participate in the design, development, and refresh of certifications, including Job Task Analysis (JTA), Minimally Qualified Candidate (MQC) profile, examination blueprint, test items, capstone projects, standards, and cut score in alignment with industry credentialing standards.
  • Item Writing and Quality Assurance : Write, review, and revise examination items for clarity, accuracy, cognitive level, and freedom from bias. Ensure all assessments adhere to psychometric standards and instructional design best practices.
  • Project Management : Own certification projects from inception to completion, managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations across all phases of development.
  • Program Documentation and SOPs : Develop and maintain program documents, including task inventories, blueprints, MQC Profiles, cut score records, SOPs, and the validity evidence file.
  • Customer Support and Program Advocacy : Represent the Certification Program in customer and partner interactions via the Cornerstone Community, email, and ServiceNow platform, and serve as the first level of support for certification issues.
  • Content Maintenance and Accuracy : Maintain content accuracy and integrity by performing metadata and link fixes and updating Salesforce Knowledge articles in response to product release changes.
  • LMS Asset Management : Build and manage certification assets in the Learning Management System (LMS) by loading, creating, and maintaining the item bank, practice tests, certification exams, and release skill checks with attention to accuracy, data security, and confidentiality obligations.
  • Autonomous Execution and Accountability : Operate with autonomy and accountability by proactively surfacing issues, communicating status updates, and managing multiple workstreams with minimal oversight across time zones.
  • Recurring Program Operations : Execute and track recurring program operations by completing three-times-per-year skill check cycles from assignment creation through completion.

You're a strong fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in assessment question writing and/or instructional design.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — the ability to write with precision, professionalism, and clarity is essential, as the majority of your collaboration will occur asynchronously across time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy — managing competing priorities across multiple workstreams, making sound decisions without immediate guidance, and executing recurring operational tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • 3+ years of experience working within an LMS — creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting learning objects, assignments, and related program assets.
  • Strong process orientation — following established SOPs and identifying gaps, building new documentation, and driving continuous improvement and scalability.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills — with the ability to navigate ambiguity, surface issues proactively, and recommend practical solutions.
  • A service-oriented mindset — with a high degree of responsiveness and the ability to communicate effectively with learners and partners of all experience levels.
  • Comfort operating in a global environment, including awareness of privacy, data security, and responsible data handling obligations.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn new system functionality without requiring step-by-step instruction.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Background in HR technology, learning technology, enterprise SaaS, workforce transformation, or talent management.

Extra dose of awesome if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with Cornerstone LMS — including learning object management, assignments, and reporting.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for identifying operational inefficiencies, resulting in scalable process improvements.
  • Ability to run basic API calls to troubleshoot system integration issues.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ticketing/case management systems.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy regulations relevant to global learner data (e.g., GDPR).
  • A Master's degree in Instructional Design, Corporate Training, or a related field.

Cornerstone University is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply #LI-Onsite
