Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to navigate a ship and drydock, understanding compartment designations.
- Strong knowledge of technical publications and drawings.
- Skilled in repairing and installing equipment using mechanical knowledge and technical diagrams.
- Proficient in diagnosing drydock machinery and mechanical equipment to identify problems and perform necessary repairs, whether the equipment is manually, air hydraulically, or electrically operated.
- Expertise in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, tachometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
- Capable of monitoring and interpreting drydock equipment gauges, meters, and alarms to identify potential malfunctions and take corrective actions to ensure continuous operation.
- Familiarity with all common shop and hand tools.
- Ability to prepare the drydock for docking operations, including fabrication, preparation, and assembly of drydock blocks, working independently.
- Experienced in performing drydocking duties, including diesel engine watch and operation of other necessary equipment, without supervision.
- Knowledgeable in drydock watch duties in accordance with operational procedures and instructions, working autonomously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper usage.
