Job description

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and ongoing mental health care to individuals with Workers' Compensation claims, with occasional care provided to patients involved in Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) cases.

Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary clinical team, the PMHNP conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, prescribes and manages medications,monitorspatient progress, and provides education and support to patients throughout their recovery.

The PMHNP ensures all care is evidence-based, clinicallyappropriate, and aligned with applicable Workers' Compensation regulations, organizational standards, and best practices, whilemaintainingaccurateandtimelyclinical documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing any reports and results of a client for any medical concerns as needed,toensure that the client's medical needs are considered and addressed in the development of the service plan and throughout treatment
  • Meeting reasonable administrative responsibilities
  • Keeping andmaintaining(or causing to bemaintained)appropriate clinicalrecords relating to all professional services rendered
  • Doing all thingsreasonablytomaintainand improve the prescriber’s professional skills.
  • Providing medical services that are coordinated and integrated with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for eachclient.
  • Engaging in methods for service coordination and communication between the Facility and other service providers serving mutual clients receiving medication to ensure that all providers of service are aware of the medication prescribed, potential side effects, and other medication monitoring concerns.
  • Providing information and instructions about the medication prescribed including, at a minimum, dosage, administration, contraindications, potential adverse reactions, and any relevant health education.
  • Regularly provide counseling services aimed at informing clients about medication(s) and the potential interactions if combined with alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
  • Providing an individual written medication information fact sheet for each prescribed medication.
  • Providing medication counseling whenever a different medication is prescribed, whenever a significant changein dosage is made or whenever there is a history or suspicion of alcohol or chemical abuse.
  • Abide by PAX Health code of ethics and model values.
  • Other duties as needed within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
  • Activeand unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure inNew York Statewith the ability to obtain andmaintainadditionallicensure as needed
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)in New York Statewithdemonstratedcompetency in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, andtreatmentrequired.
  • Must obtain authorization from the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (NYS WCB) to provide treatment to Workers' Compensation clients.
  • Minimum of two years of post-certification clinical experience, preferably in outpatient, community mental health, or integrated care settings
  • Active and unrestricted DEA and Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) registrations asrequiredin New York Statewith a strong understanding of safe prescribing practices and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience managing a diverse patient population across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults with a range of psychiatric conditions
  • Strong clinical knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medicationselection, monitoring, side effect management, and patient education
  • Experience coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, including collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and other specialists to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Proficiencyin electronic medical record (EMR) systems, with the ability to maintainaccurate,timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, educate patients and families, and support treatment adherence
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a consistent caseload while meeting administrative and documentation expectations
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with evidence-based practices in psychiatric care
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all applicable regulatory and compliance standards
Schedule:
  • Part-time opportunity with the ability to grow into a full-time position, or full-time from the start
  • W-2 employment
  • Monday through Friday schedule; no evenings or weekendsrequired
  • Must be available to work on-site one day per month should program or regulatory requirements change
  • Salary iscommensuratewith experience, starting at $160,000 annually
  • Officeslocatedinthe NewYork City region, Westchester, and Long Island.
