Job description

Position Summary

The primary role of the Propane Service Technician is to drive and operate the service crane truck and occasionally the cylinder delivery truck. You will deliver, set, and install propane tanks and gas lines when needed, conduct system tests, and purge cylinders and tanks while maintaining all related documentation according to safety regulations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Customer Service & Communication: Represent the company in a professional, respectful manner. Communicate clearly with new and existing customers, resolve concerns helpfully, and maintain a superior standard of service.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promptly notify your supervisor of any issues that may impact safety, customer satisfaction, or productivity.
  • Tank & System Maintenance: Set, repair, and maintain tanks and cylinders. Install first-stage lines, conduct pressure/system tests, and ready installations for inspection.
  • Gas Handling: Purge propane cylinders and tanks, fill storage containers, and perform basic outside leak repairs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a service technician in the propane industry.
  • Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (Tanker and Hazmat endorsements are heavily preferred).
  • Equipment Certification: Valid Crane Operator Certification (e.g., NCCCO Mobile Crane Certification).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes (such as NFPA 54 and NFPA 58) and applicable DOT and OSHA requirements.

What You’ll Love About Working Here:

  • Home Every Night: No overnight hauls—be home daily with your family.
  • Excellent Earning Potential: Competitive pay starting up to $30/hour, with overtime available each winter.
  • Bonus Opportunity: Earn extra incentives throughout the year.
  • Family Culture: Join a supportive, friendly team environment where you are respected.
  • Direct Access to Ownership: Report directly to the owners. Cut through middle-management red tape for faster decisions and greater flexibility.
  • Community Impact: Make a regular difference by providing your neighbors with warmth and comfort.
  • Driver-Friendly Scheduling: Work independently without a manager micromanaging your every move.
  • Driver-Centric Tech: Use routing software developed by drivers, for drivers, complete with the Optimal Route Dashboard and field feedback capabilities.
  • Fuel Perks: Enjoy a discount on propane for your personal use.
