Job Summary:

The Ethics Coordinator assists the Director of Ethics with the ethics review process. This role coordinates aspects of assigned reviews through research, fact-finding and investigation, preparation of ethics-related documents, and the execution of day-to-day administrative and operational tasks to support the department's objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are a summary of the essential functions of the job. Other duties might be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities could change periodically.

  • Communicates with candidates, credential holders, and members of the public, in accordance with established departmental procedures.
  • Opens and closes cases in accordance with established procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, timely processing, and compliance with applicable policies and guidelines.
  • Performs day-to-day administrative tasks, such as maintaining information files and ensuring that files are appropriately processed in a timely manner.
  • Receives document submissions and verifies information.Identifies cases requiring additional assistance, communicates relevant issues to appropriate personnel, documents significant matters in accordance with established procedures, and provides recommendations to the Director of Ethics to support effective and timely case resolution.
  • Reviews organization's ethics-related website content to ensure information is accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards in collaboration with the Director of Ethics and company stakeholders.
  • Reviews state licensure websites and searches databases to verify credential holders' or applicants' status.
  • Conducts research into state board regulations and law as needed to complete review process.
  • Proactively pursues professional development opportunities to maintain current knowledge of technological advancements within field and the organization.
  • Adheres to established rules of evidence regarding legal and ethical procedures.
  • Supports the ethics review and investigative process by utilizing interviewing, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Provides administrative support for the Director of Ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RequiredSkills/Abilities:

  • Problem Solving/Analysis - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to see an issue and use objective analysis and evaluation in order to form a judgment.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork - Ability to work cooperatively with other individuals and make valued contributions to the outputs of others in order to assist own team or project to achieve the required outputs.
  • Initiative - Independently develops creative solutions that will improve or enhance products and services, avoid problems, or develop entrepreneurial opportunities. Plans for upcoming problems or opportunities and takes appropriate action.
  • Communication - Ability to listen to others, process information, and communicate effectively in oral and written formats, including knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
  • Technical Knowledge - Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products. Working knowledge of desktop publishing software.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and database software
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent writing skills.

PreferredEducation/Experience:

  • Master's degree in Counseling preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state licensing in the professional fields credentialed by NBCC and Affiliates.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal and ethical codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, agency rules, and the democratic process.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical codes relevant to the profession of Counseling and for all credentials offered by NBCC.
