Job description

Want to Be the Next Ms. Rachel, The Wiggles, Blippi, or Barney?

Experienced Children’s Instructors Wanted
Part-Time Position | Growth Opportunities Available
Location: Kakaʻako, Honolulu

Have you ever watched a children’s entertainer and thought, “I could do that”?

Are you energetic, animated, confident, a little silly, and passionate about helping children learn? We want to meet you.

At My Treehouse Club, we sing, dance, tell stories, perform puppet shows, lead obstacle courses, celebrate milestones, and turn learning into something children cannot wait to experience again.

But we are not entertainers pretending to teach. We are educators who understand that children learn best when they are engaged, excited, moving, and having fun.

Every song teaches a concept. Every obstacle course builds confidence. Every activity helps children grow socially, emotionally, physically, or academically.

If you are looking for a quiet classroom where you sit at a table all day, this probably is not the position for you. If you want to become the teacher children run toward when they walk through the door, keep reading.

About My Treehouse Club

My Treehouse Club is a children’s learning academy in Kakaʻako serving infants through approximately 5th grade. We focus on movement, confidence, creativity, kindness, and meaningful relationships.

Our programs include:

  • Grown-Up & Me and Big Kid Fitness
  • Studio Art
  • Japanese Language and Culture
  • Preschool Prep
  • Kindergarten Interview and Classroom Readiness
  • Tutoring and Academic Support
  • Birthday Parties and Parent’s Night Out
  • Seasonal Camps, mobile programs, workshops, and community events

Most instructors begin primarily in our fitness programs, but opportunities to assist with or lead other programs may become available based on experience, interests, versatility, and training.

What This Role Looks Like

Think Ms. Rachel, The Wiggles, Blippi, Barney, camp counselor, children’s performer, teacher, and cheerleader—all rolled into one.

Our instructors are expected to:

  • Lead high-energy fitness and movement classes
  • Sing, dance, act silly, tell stories, and perform in front of children and adults
  • Lead circle time, obstacle courses, puppet shows, and structured activities
  • Project their voice confidently and remain animated throughout class
  • Safely assist children with basic movement and gymnastics skills
  • Learn weekly curriculum and follow MTC scripts and teaching language
  • Adapt to different ages, personalities, and developmental needs
  • Communicate professionally and sincerely with parents and caregivers
  • Build meaningful relationships with children and families
  • Set up equipment and maintain clean, safe, organized classrooms
  • Complete cleaning, closing, and basic administrative duties
  • Assist with parties, camps, mobile programs, performances, and special events as needed

The ability to physically demonstrate fitness, dance, movement, or gymnastics skills is a major plus.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. We strongly prefer candidates with:

  • Three or more years of experience working with infants through elementary-aged children
  • Experience independently leading groups
  • Experience in classrooms, camps, enrichment programs, gymnastics, daycare, childcare, or similar settings
  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults
  • Fluent, clear English
  • A background in acting, theatre, dance, cheer, sports coaching, gymnastics, music, or performance-based teaching
  • Experience with programs such as My Gym, Disney, children’s theatre, camps, or other high-energy children’s organizations
  • Art, preschool curriculum, or additional language skills, especially Japanese
  • CPR certification, although it is not required
  • Reliability, professionalism, adaptability, and openness to feedback
  • A willingness to learn and support multiple MTC programs

Schedule and Commitment

This position begins as part-time, with the potential for additional or full-time hours based on performance, reliability, versatility, and long-term commitment.

Applicants must be available for:

  • A minimum of 15 hours per week
  • At least one weekend shift
  • Mandatory staff training every Thursday from 12:00–3:00 PM
  • Occasional evenings, holidays, camps, performances, mobile programs, and special events

Physical Requirements and Dress Code

Applicants must be comfortable sitting on the floor, kneeling, bending, running, squatting, crawling, and remaining physically active throughout their shifts. They must also be able to safely lift and carry up to 70 pounds and assist with equipment setup.

Staff shirts are provided, including two complimentary shirts upon hire. Athletic bottoms and clean socks are required. Hair must be secured when appropriate, and jewelry must be limited to a simple wedding band or safe watch. Any tattoos or imagery unsuitable for a family-friendly environment must be covered.

Compensation and Growth

  • Paid training begins at $18 per hour
  • Training length is based on demonstrated readiness
  • Most fully trained instructors earn approximately $18–$22 per hour
  • Birthday party and special-event tips may be available
  • Additional hours and mobile-program opportunities may be available
  • Approved transportation expenses for mobile programs are covered or reimbursed
  • Opportunities to grow into Lead Instructor or expanded roles may become available

Full-time hours and health insurance benefits may be discussed in the future with employees who demonstrate strong leadership, reliability, versatility, and long-term commitment.

Hiring Process

  • Resume required
  • Background check required before the first day of work
  • Selected applicants will be invited to an interview
  • Final candidates will complete a working interview or demo class
  • A 30-second introduction video is strongly encouraged—show us your personality!

To Apply

Please send your resume and, if possible, a short introduction video telling us about your experience, personality, and why you enjoy working with children.

If you love educating, entertaining, and building meaningful relationships with children and families, we would love to meet you.

Come help us create magical experiences and become part of the My Treehouse Club ohana.
